Full-Service Community Schools
Stronger Students, Families & Communities
What is a full-service community school?
A full-service community school provides comprehensive academic, social, and health services for students, family members, and community members, with a goal of improved educational outcomes for our children. Services may include parent involvement/engagement programs, parent education, mentoring, family literacy, community service learning opportunities, recreation facilities, and more.
What are WCCUSD’s efforts around full-service community schools?
West County Full Services Community Schools
West County FSCS is a multi-year initiative led by WCCUSD and our larger community — which includes Contra Costa County, our local cities, community-based organizations, and residents.
The effort is focused on achieving better academic and health outcomes for our students and families by better coordinating and aligning public and private partnerships and resources to meet the comprehensive needs of students. The initiative builds upon existing health care and social service resources in WCCUSD schools.
Walter T. Helms Middle School and El Cerrito High School are currently FSCS campuses. WCCUSD is focused on spreading this model to school sites across the district over time.
