Spring 2017 Family Leaders Graduation Celebration

On Thursday, May 25th, nearly 100 community members — including WCCUSD teachers, principals, board members, and school community outreach workers — joined us to celebrate and graduate our second cohort of Family Leaders!

Guests made their way through learning stations around the room, where Family Leaders shared their reflections on key topics covered by the Program: Data & Budgets, Vision for Educational Excellence, Organizing & Advocacy, and Building Relationships.

Check out the video below to hear firsthand from Family Leaders about why they joined the Program, what they learned, and their plans, hopes, and dreams for the future.

Catch Family Leaders in Action on June 14th.  At the upcoming 6/14 Board of Education meeting, our Family Leaders will be speaking up to advocate for better quality and more accessible data in service of all students in West Contra Costa. Look for an update soon about how you can support by tuning in to the day of action!

In case you missed it! Be sure to check out our Facebook photo album from the celebration and this set of bilingual parent reflections shared at the event.

Thank you to all of the allies whose support make this journey with our Family Leaders possible. My team is inspired and humbled to work alongside incredible community members like you, and we are excited for your continued partnership in developing family voice and power throughout West Contra Costa in service of young people.
