Leadership Council

Kareem has demonstrated a strong commitment to dramatically improving education opportunities and outcomes for students in urban communities. The Richmond native is an award-winning teacher and principal who has invested 20 years of service in education. He’s currently the Bay Area Executive Director for New Leaders, which provides leadership development and instructional coaching for local educators. Kareem leads parent workshops, serves on the Oakland NAACP’s Education Committee, and coaches youth sports. He also uses his Spanish and Clinical-Community Psychology degrees to build community alliances that are inclusive, healthy, and critical for student success.

The members of our founding Leadership Council are West Contra Costa natives, residents, parents, grandparents, former teachers, principals, and alumni of West Contra Costa Unified. With deep connections to our community and strong backgrounds in education, our Leadership Council supports and guides our work in the best interest of West Contra Costa students.
