This multi-year advocacy campaign focuses on increasing equity, opportunity, and outcomes for historically underserved students by ensuring that leaders — from the classroom to the boardroom to the community — use data and evidence to inform strategy, budgets, and decisions throughout West Contra Costa public schools.
Board Watch connects families, educators, and community partners to the decisions that directly impact West County students. We provide email previews of upcoming WCCUSD Board of Education meetings, including links to key presentations and resources that help advocates take action — for example, by sharing their perspective with board members during public comment or engaging their school community around an agenda item
West Contra Costa Kids Can reports annually on the progress of our public schools and students. The report follows our young people’s educational journeys from Pre-Kindergarten through graduation and beyond. It includes key findings and recommendations in the hope that community members will use the information to partner and advocate for solutions.
Our Family Leaders Program is a 10-week parent leadership development program that builds advocacy skills and knowledge among West Contra Costa family members so they’re empowered to build relationships, work toward solutions, and ultimately create system changes in order to improve student outcomes. Key topics include school governance and budget, organizing and advocacy, hosting meetings, public speaking, and working along lines of difference.
