At this week’s meeting, our school board members heard from Gold Ribbon winner Kensington Elementary, reviewed progress on Goal 1 of the LCAP, and held a public hearing on Richmond College Prep’s proposed charter revision.
Last month, the ACLU and Public Advocates released an important report identifying ways that California charter schools provide limited access for some families. Unequal Access: How Some California Charter Schools Illegally Restrict Enrollment reviewed public websites and documents to find issues at 253 of California’s 1,200 charter public schools in five key areas.
At the March 2nd meeting, our school board heard a report on progress to LCAP Goals 2 & 3 of improving instructional practice and increasing parent engagement, and an overview of charter schools.
